The Sport-Jet's cabin is built from advanced carbon composite material. The Sport -Jet wings and tail are made of aluminum. Although the Federal Aviation Administration has made strides in certifying all-composite construction techniques, we believe the use of metal on flying surfaces and the tail will not only expedite FAA-certification but also offer significant weight savings.
The Sport-Jet is designed for the owner/operator rather than for commercial, Part 135 operations. The Sport-Jet has a 350-knot cruise speed at FL250. We know from working with insurers that they will require pilots to have an IFR rating and participate in a specific training program for the aircraft. We plan to offer this program as part of our curricular-based training, which is required by insurers, and actual in-flight training flying the Sport-Jet. We believe the best way for each pilot to learn the flight characteristics of the Sport-Jet is to actually fly it to become familiar with it.
Safe, Efficient, and Durable
Making sure the Sport-Jet is safe, efficient and durable is only part of our goal. Making sure the aircraft is truly
insurable is equally important. We understand how expensive insurance can be, so we are doing everything we can to
eliminate any hurdles insurers might have by consulting with an aviation insurance organization as a design-team partner.
In fact, as one aviation insurance brokerage firm stated,
"The Sport-Jet is the only aircraft designed from the ground up to address the concerns of the insurance underwriters with respect to GA pilot insurability."
The design parameters and features that we have incorporated into the Sport-Jet lend to an easier and safer transition from a high performance single aircraft. Some of those aspects include single-engine simplicity, low stall speed, and an all-glass cockpit with state-of-the-art avionics.
Secondly, from the earliest stages of development, we have been working with insurance companies to ensure that they understand and accept our design approach. As we get further down range, after insurance underwriters approve of our complete training syllabus, we will publish that information.
Additionally, several engine manufacturers are close in certifying power-plants specifically for a very light jet, and as soon as we make our final decision of which power-plant is right for the Sport-Jet, we will disclose that information on our website.
